“Stress is the trash of modern life - we all generate it, but if you don't dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life.”
We live in a fast moving world where time is short and the pressures and demands of daily life can be overwhelming leaving us feeling unable to cope, stressed and anxious with ‘not enough time in the day’.
Join us to change the buzzword from ‘busy’ to just ‘being’!
‘Discover Mindfulness’ is an experiential workshop offering an introduction to mindfulness practice. It is accessible to anyone who is interested in mindfulness-based approaches to health and well-being. One of the core aims of Mindfulness-Based Therapies is to learn how to step out of the mind’s ‘driven/doing mode’, that is so preoccupied with multitasking and 'busyness' creating stress and anxiety, into the ‘being mode’ of the mind – a less goal orientated state, where we are able to step away from the unhelpful thinking patterns that can hold us back from living a happy, calm and fulfilling life.
The workshop is four hours, split over two, two-hour sessions on a Sunday morning between 10:30 and 12:30.
Week 1 will include…
A short introduction to mindfulness, its history and application in western psychology
Two guided meditations (no prior experience of meditation is required)
Reflection and group discussions
Tools and strategies to help manage stress and anxiety
Between week one and two there will be an opportunity for participants to cultivate their mindfulness practice with daily formal and informal mindfulness meditations and exercises that will be given in handout and YouTube format at the end of the session.
Week 2 will include...
Reflection and discussion of participants' experience of their mindfulness practice over the previous week
Guided Meditation on Sounds

Further tools and strategies to help manage stress and anxiety
Participants will take home:

A more relaxed, positive and calm mindset moving forward
A deeper understanding of how and why we become stressed and the evidence-based benefits of daily mindfulness practice
Factsheet containing simple techniques that can be implemented at any point in the day when things get ‘a bit much’ and stress and anxiety strikes
