Depression

Depression is more than just feeling sad or going through a rough patch, it is a serious mental health condition that affects how you think, feel and handle daily life. It can drain your energy, disrupt your sleep, and make even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming.

Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy as the cornerstone of my approach, I guide you to connect with the parts of you holding pain, fostering healing from within.

Supported by Mindfulness-Based Cognitve Therapy, mindfulness, meditation and Hypnotherapy, we will work together to break free from negative thought patterns and build lasting resistance.

Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to overcome depression

My approach to treating low mood and depression centres on Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS is a unique, compassionate approach to therapy that views the mind as a collection of "parts", each with its own feelings and role.

By meeting these parts with curiosity and compassion, we can address the root causes of depression, whether it is unresolved trauma, self-criticism, or overwhelming emotions.

Depression looks different for everyone but there are common symptoms to watch out for. If you have noticed several of these persisting for two weeks or more it might be time to seek help:

You may feel emotionally:

Mindfulness and Hypnotherapy

For those with recurrent depression, I integrate IFS with Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), an evidence-based approach that combines mindfulness practices with cognitive therapy to prevent relapse.

MBCT helps you recognise and shift negative thought patterns, reducing the risk of relapse by up to 43%.

Supporting this I use meditation, relaxation training, and cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy to enhance self-awareness and emotional regulation, creating a tailored path to healing.
